Meeanee School is a vibrant small school on the fringe of Napier city. We cater for children from Years 1 to 8. Children transition from us to a range of High Schools in Napier.
The school is set just off Meeanee Road in Gavin Black Street, 5 minutes from Taradale and central Napier. There is a community hall, playgroup and sports stadium adjoining the school property. Children enjoy the use of extensive grounds which include: swimming pool, playing fields, hard court area, adventure playground, sandpit, bike track, edible orchard and gardening area.
Currently we have 5 classes which have all been modernized to meet the current standards. The school can accommodate 100 children and roll numbers will be at that level by the end of 2022. We have a new Multipurpose space almost completed which has a Library attached. Our Multipurpose space will allow our students to enjoy our range of extra curricular activities. The Board of Trustees has invested in an extra portable classroom for visiting professionals to use and for small group teaching.
As a school we are very lucky to have a supportive Board of Trustees and PTA group who invest in the future of our students.
Our school is heavily into sports and although small manage to enter teams into the likes of Volleyball, Basketball, Netball, and Canoe Polo to name just a few. We also enter events such as Tough Kids, Barefoot 7’s, and Beach 5’s.
The school is a member of the Whirinaki Community of Learning (Kahui Ako). This geographically spread but pedagogically close community includes the following schools: Maraekakaho, Twyford, St Josephs, Mayfair, Karamu HS, St.Johns College, Clive, Pakowhai and ourselves.
The school has a strong focus on core curriculum and our own Meeanee School curriculum.
We have an enrolment zone in place but if you are interested in having a look around our amazing school just let us know!

Raffle sheets are being sent home today.
We are also asking for donations for our hampers. You can contribute by sending an item with your child or this year we are allowing the children to wear mufti (see date below) and instead a coin donation we are asking they bring an item for our Christmas raffle.
The mufti day will be next Friday the 25th November.

Sports this termThu Oct 27 10:01am
Students have their sports uniforms. If your child is not playing a sport this term, can you please return it tomorrow. This term has the largest number of students playing sport at Meeanee School ever so it has been a mammoth job sorting out teams and uniforms. I try to make all teams fair, so if your child is not in a team that they want, tell them to give it a go – it builds resilience.
A big shout out to the Blunsdons, Kepa, Korbin, Diana, Alison and Carrie for stepping up to coach teams. Damion and I will be taking Volleyball.
Let’s hope all have a fabulous term playing sport and remember to illustrate our school values of Excellence, Respect, Empathy and Perseverance.
