Sports

At Meeanee School we are very focused on getting students playing sport.  Across the year our students play for the school in many different sports.  Below are some examples of what we do.  We also enter into one off tournament days in sports such as Football, Rippa Rugby, Barefoot 7’s, and Tough Kid challenges.

Basketball

Throughout the year Basketball Hawke’s Bay offers the opportunity for schools to play in competitions.  We enter teams in the Year 1/2, Year 3/4, Year 5/6, and Year 7/8 leagues.

Both our Year 5/6 and Year 7/8 teams have been runner up in their grades in 2021.

Canoe Polo

In Term 2 Canoe Polo Hawke’s Bay run competitions in the Autumn League.  In 2020 we joined the league for the first time ever, with a Year 6 team (the youngest you can have) and a Year 7/8 team.  Once again in 2021 we enter a team in each of these leagues.

Our Year 7/8 team were winners of the E3A grade.

Netball

In Term 2 we enter teams into the Netball Hawke’s Bay competitions in Napier.  These leagues are aptly named ‘Future Ferns’.  Once again we enter teams across the year levels.

Volleyball

Volleyball Hawke’s Bay runs Kiwi Volley for Years 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8. Unfortunately in 2021 due to venue flooding the Year 3/4 competition did not go ahead, but we did have teams from Year 5/6 & Year 7/8 representing our school.
